Energy Saver Profile: Lauren

Lauren, Ward 6 Resident

“I believe it’s important for everyone to do their part to help conserve the planet’s energy resources.”- Lauren

Lauren is a 10-year DC resident and enjoys all that it has to offer, especially her favorite outdoor spot of East Potomac / Haines Point. She is also a strong advocate of protecting its resources. Lauren volunteers with local youth literacy programs and regularly participates in her neighborhood’s environmental protection initiatives.

“As our nation’s capital, DC should be the exemplar for energy conservation and protecting our nation’s precious resources and environment, “Lauren says. She has taken steps to live a more sustainable life. “I got rid of my car to help reduce my carbon footprint. I know not everyone can do that but I would highly encourage carpooling or using other alternatives that are not harmful to the environment, “ she says. When she travels, even if it’s just for a weekend, Lauren unplugs as many unused devices as possible. She also recently started composting and is learning a lot about reducing waste!

Lauren is participating in the Reduce Energy Use DC pledge by limiting frequent use of large appliances like washers and dryers, investing in energy-saving products such as light bulbs and power strips, and using natural light whenever possible. #SaveMoreThanMoney
